Michelle McGuire is a passionate advocate for practical, common-sense leadership and is standing to ensure the Council focuses on delivering the essential services on which a thriving city depends. Michelle (born and raised in the Eastern ward) and her partner Richard live on the Miramar Peninsula, where they run a residential construction company and have raised their three children (aged 16, 19 and 22).
A strong interest in local government, Michelle believes it’s time to stop treating rate payers like “cash cows” and quit the unnecessary spending! It’s time to step up and take a stand for smarter decision-making. Her focus is on cutting unnecessary costs, reducing operational waste, and working toward zero rates increase – so that ratepayers see real value for their money. Let’s fix our pipes BEFORE the nice-to-haves, Michelle says.
Michelle spent 12 years working in a family construction business (also based in Eastern suburbs), before she and Richard started their own company. Michelle has also had five years in the computer industry and two years working in administration for PHARMAC. Michelle is driven by values of accountability, transparency, and integrity. She is deeply committed to the Independent Together team’s policy direction and will be a strong, unwavering voice for the Eastern Suburbs.
