Philip McConchie is a lifelong Wellingtonian who’s ready to give back to the city that has shaped his personal and professional life. A director at Spencer Holmes Limited, a civil, structural, surveying and planning consultancy, Philip has spent his entire career at the firm, moving from student intern to co-owner, always working closely with engineering and infrastructure.
Known for his precision and numbers-based decision-making, Philip believes now is the time to help steer Wellington in a better direction. He’s deeply concerned about the city’s trajectory over the past 12 years and is standing to help reinvigorate Wellington and restore the vibrant, well-functioning city he remembers from his early professional years.
Philip is particularly focused on the Council’s built environment and property portfolio. He brings a critical lens to the seismic risks associated with Council-owned buildings and believes in strong, transparent risk management. His decision-making is pragmatic – anchored in common sense, guided by values, and clear on what is and isn’t acceptable.
A straight talker and clear communicator, Philip believes Wellington voters expect honesty and clarity from their elected representatives. You’ll always know where he stands. Philip lives in Oriental Bay with his wife Bridget, and is often seen on the waterfront with his dog Koru.
