Our city is in the worst shape it has been in for years. Rates have skyrocketed. Businesses are struggling under the weight of poor governance.
Instead of focusing on the essentials, the council has pushed an ideological agenda – prioritising pedestrianisation, cycle lanes, speed restrictions, and unnecessary infrastructure changes over the needs of residents and businesses. Removing car parks has caused major disruptions, particularly to our vital hospitality sector. Shops are closing, and the heart of our city is fading.
In the past year alone, residential rates have surged by over 20%. Despite record debt and declining services, the council continues to treat Wellington property owners as an unlimited source of revenue. Arrogance has replaced accountability.
